Terms of Service
The rules for using SaferDrop. Last updated 14 June 2026.
By using SaferDrop you agree to these terms and to our Acceptable Use Policy.
The service
SaferDrop provides browser-to-browser file transfer. Transfers are end-to-end encrypted and ephemeral; we do not store or have access to your file contents. Because there is no storage, a transfer requires both parties to be online at the same time, an interrupted transfer cannot be resumed, and each link is single-session and expires automatically (currently within one hour).
Acceptable use
Your use of SaferDrop is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy. You are solely responsible for the content you transfer and for sending the link and PIN over appropriate, separate channels.
Accounts & billing
Sending requires an account. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually through our payments provider and renew automatically until cancelled; applicable taxes are added at checkout. You can cancel at any time, and your account returns to the Free plan when the subscription ends.
Branded links (Pro)
Pro accounts may claim a public name used in transfer links. You must not choose a name that impersonates a person, brand or organisation you do not represent. We may reclaim or suspend any name that is misleading, infringing, or used for abuse.
No warranty
The service is provided "as is". Network conditions can prevent a direct connection; we offer a relayed fallback but cannot guarantee that any particular transfer will complete. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for failed or interrupted transfers.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
